China has become one of the top destinations for tourists who travel to Asia. The Great Wall of China is the most significant symbol of the Chinese history. It is one of the most famous artificial constructions in the world today. The Great Wall of China is enlisted has a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO.  The Great Wall of China is a great cultural site for the Chinese people. The original construction of this wall began during the Ming dynasty.

The Great Wall of China was mainly built to protect the Chinese empires form the Mongolian and Manchurian invaders. It was first constructed in the 7th B.C. It was built by the Vassal States under the Zhou dynasty.  The construction of this wall continued through out the tenure of mainly all the important Chinese dynasties. It is said to have completed between 14th to 17th centuries.

This wall was also built to protect the agriculture from invasion. The Great Wall of China spreads 6400 kilometers across northern china, from Shanhaiguan to Gansu province. It is said that nearly 2to 3 million Chinese people died due to the century long project of making this wall.

This wall is the symbol of bravery, dedication, wisdom, brilliance and hard work of the Chinese people. The majestic Great Wall of China is famous through out the world. Thousands of tourists come to China every year to see this great work of architecture. This Great Wall of China is built across mountains, plateaus, plains, deserts, rivers and grasslands. Great Wall of China was also included in the ancient Seven Wonders of the World.

A large part of this wall is facing destruction due to the neglect of the Chinese Government. The Great Wall of China is near the Shanhaiguan pass, Liaoning, Hebei, Tianjin, Beijing, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Gansu and Jiayuguan pass. The Great Wall of China spans through 3,984 miles and spreads across Shanai pass on the Bohai Sea to Lopnur in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The Great Wall of China is made up of solid stones. This wall was mainly built through forced labor. The government of different dynasties made people work without paying them decent wages. Building this wall was a very difficult and hectic work which took the life of millions of people because of invasions and gruesome weather conditions. Only 20 percent of this Great Wall is in good condition today. The tourist locations are well maintained.
