Solo backpacking means that you are all alone calmly and peacefully enjoying the nature and its wilderness. There is no one to stop you from going to any place you want to. You are all alone and can take your decisions and stay away from all those group travels which are most of the time busy, hectic and even full of chatting and noise. This is the main reason that why people go for the option of solo backpacking. There is no one between you and the nature. You are the master of your will.

There are various reasons that why do people often go for solo backpacking such as:

  • The very first reason is that most of the people find it really tough to go with other people. They love to spend the time alone peacefully and quietly.
  • Second reason behind it is the simplicity. You can pack your bags light and take all those stuff which you need the most. Thus by this you can avoid the conflicts with your family or friends to take other unnecessary things and make your bags heavy. You can also take the cheaper trips or flights while going solo.
  • The best advantage of going solo is that you have the freedom and thus can enjoy the nature the way you want. Rest anywhere, eat whenever you want and thus you do not have to be part of the other’s rules and regulations.
  • Finally, when you go for solo backpacking trips you can have a more spiritual experience with the wildlife and can take the best shots of the nature and wildlife patiently as there is no one to wait for you.

But solo backpacking is not as easy as it appears to be. It can be dangerous for the solo backpackers to go into the wilderness. So here are some tips which can make you safe while going alone.

  • Inform someone about your backpacking plans, where you are going and what the expected time of your arrival is. Better you leave a copy of the map of the place where you are heading to.
  • Take all the essential travel accessories with you ranging from clothes and sleeping items, water and food etc. Pack your bags lightly. Better take the GSM mobile phone so that you may not get lost in any unknown place. Also bring a compass and maps with you to perfectly guide you for the traveling alone. You should have the map reading and compass using knowledge. You can even carry a whistle to blow it out when you get lost.
  • Take with you the safety items such as matches, ropes, knives, hiking sticks and medical kits with the medicines not expired. Keep some money in cash if in case you need to buy the things urgently.
  • It is always suggested to the solo backpackers to go through the familiar route that is well traveled.
  • Know yourself. Learn all the basic survival skills from any professional trainers in case you fall into an unexpected trouble.

Thus solo backpacking is risky but it has its own fun and pleasure to avoid the group traveling tensions and make your travel calm and easy.
